This building was struck by lightning and burned down before anyone could save it. The school was rebuilt but of limestone this time instead of wood. It housed the Luray Grade School, Common School and when a few high school classes started, the Luray High School. On the decision to have a high school because students were going to Osborne, Russell or Lincoln for high school, a limestone high school was added.
